FREEDOM! Woo-HOo! I knew Ubuntu would prevail. That will show those evil game makers not to mess with Ubuntu copyrighted material.

ubuntu OS and the ubuntu logo are open source and everyone has the right to copy and sell its contents.

even if canonical sues them, nothing is gonna happen to them because of the GPL. unless canonical changes its licence to a little bit restricted licence other than than GPL.... although I think the GPL is completely useless and unstable.

I think the best open source licence would be:
to donate code to the project starter (canonical)
you have the right to copy and distrubute the code but forking is not allowed!

I think forking makes a big mess... why would I want to have 20 media players that barely work? why not have 1 or two that are stable? or why would I want to have 1000+ Linux OSes, why not have 1 or two that can be supported by third party devs as well?
    Sorry but truth hurts!

ps: hey am happy that they removed the logo but again, people take advantage of open source and they make money,... how cool is that?
btw dont forget to vote for my idea on ubuntu brainstorm... link on my sig

Sorry, but you're wrong. I've yet to see a single open-source trademark, haha. Really defeats the point of it.

You'll also be surprised that Canonical is an actual legal entity of a company, and not a few guys stuck in a basement. They have a right to protect their trademark and the license of the software within does not affect their corporate logo they do business with.
I USE THIS SMILEY because im a rocker!!! \m/ pantara and nerveina roles!

    also yo-yo ma is great.

Do you want some business taking Ubuntu's logo, name, sticking it on crappy soap that doesn't work and selling it? So that when people see "Ubuntu" the OS they'll associate it with crappy, non-working soap?

If no, that's what trademarks are for.

It's nice to see people posting here again. Bad to see another company trying to get away with using the Ubuntu logo.

For people who can't understand this issue, firstly: see my other post http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...43#post6671892, second: it doesn't have to be exactly the same design to be trademark infringement, it can just be similar, thirdly: it's the law, trademark infringement is against the law, even if Ubuntu is open-source, it's still illegal.

Also as someone at InaTux said about the Combat Arms case:
"It's especially strange that they would use the Ubuntu logo, or a similar design, when they are going against free and open source software, by making it proprietary and keeping the source closed.

Maybe they should replace it with the copy left version.

    Or the public domain version.
    "

A cease and desist order is necessary!
