    Quick question on upgrading

Today I downloaded the deb file for the new verson of virtual box.
Right now I am using 2.0.6 but I would like to upgrade.

However when I try it says "Error: Conflicts with package Virtualbox 2.0"

I figure this means I have to remove my current virtual box installation, but if I do will I lose my virtual machines and their hardisks and the data on them?

    No, you will not.

Rather than downloading the deb files, I recommend that you add the appropriate repository to your system. The USB in VirtualBox HOWTO includes instructions for doing this.
