    Hard Drive Dead

I think I know the answer to this, but I'm posting it just in case. I have a newish hard drive, internal, mounted as /mnt/data. Tonight it showed up as read only. Foolishly, I rebooted. Now, it doesn't even show up in the BIOS setup (and my primary HDD is now mounting as /data). I am presuming it's gone from merely dead to really dead.

Whoa man, That is screwy. Have you tried removing it and rebooting if it will let you? I'm not totaly sure how to help you but I'm trying.

You could try seeing if it shows up in gparted or a similar tool before you plug and unplug.
    theWrk@Lh-owon-sun:~$ ssh larry@192.168.1.36

    larry@zapcon:~$ music123 ~/Music/Abba/"Dancing Queen.mp3"

fdisk doesn't see it, neither does df. Based on what I have read in these forums about the 'read only' syndrome, it was probably dying at that time.
