    Re: ALSA Upgrade Script

Just wondering if the upgrade script is contained within the file labelled as "alsa-driver-1.0.23.tar.bz2" downloadable off the alsa website? And if so, is it named as such?

    Thank you

I can't get the latest alsa snapshot (June 26) to compile. Has anyone had any luck? I always get a "No such file or directory. Stop." error.

    Re: ALSA Upgrade Script

You dont' need this script. You can install quite new "backported" alsa-driver snapshot from offical Ubuntu archive or daily(working again)build from ppa(maintained by Ubuntu core developer). If you really need 1.23 versions of other alsa stuff you can find ppa for that. Just don't install everything from that ppa or you might get other issues.

    Re: ALSA Upgrade Script

I think kj74 is the best choice for those who are also with kernel mainline ppa (2.6.35) as this script won't compile that easly on it (2.6.34 it's fine).

Also this will update your PulseAudio =)

    Re: ALSA Upgrade Script

Thanks for the script. It worked like a charm. I ran into trouble though but then I figured I forgot to remove pulse audio. I did that and it worked perfectly!! Keep up the good work. Thanks!

P.S I installed it on Hp nx6325 laptop.

    Re: ALSA Upgrade Script

Question for those who installed alsa from ppa:

    https://launchpad.net/~ricotz/+archive/unstable

    What do you get from:

    cat /proc/asound/version

Main still shows me the old version.

Running the script brings my zbox up to date...
Because things are the way they are, things will not stay the way they are.

    Re: ALSA Upgrade Script

cat /proc/asound/version using the PPA seemed to give me the same version as before (1.0.21). But if I look using the Ubuntu Software Centre, then the version looks like the one mentioned on the PPA page.

How can I confirm the version reliably?
