Hi, Can anyone tell me how to install this script .. n00b here.. thanks
rev.1.17 ( compile alsa 1.0.20 stable )
ALSA 1.0.20 is now OUT! Please upgrade the script![]()
Thanks so much for the script Biasquez and Soundcheck. Just buy running this script I got the sound on my Dell Vostro 420 to work with Kubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope.
Great work.
arrrrrg... I still have the same problem with Digital INPUT on realtek ALC888 (intel hda). Absolutly no sound is heard from SPDIF INPUT. Version 1.0.20 didn't solve my problem![]()
support for kernel 2.6.29?
can i just replace "2.6.28" to "2.6.29" in the script?
thanks

THX!!! worked on my Lenovo S10e!!![]()
I reinstalled my OS this afternoon and oddly my sound wasn't working like it was just a few hours ago. I redid everything just like I did before but this time I get no sound just like I did before I ran the upgrade script found in this thread.
This time I poked around for a while and did some different stuff I eventually stumbled upon the solution in alsamixer.
I have 5 loopback devices on the sound card displayed in alsamixer:
Analog Loopback
Analog Loopback 1
Analog Loopback 2
Analog Loopback 3
Analog Loopback 4
I'm not sure what the purpose of these devices are but I muted them and now the sound works, just like that.
Actually I just muted "Analog Loopback" the others made no difference at all from what I could see, but I muted them all for good measure. Hope this helps someone out there. I didn't think to mute them or unmute them I was just hitting buttons in alsamixer hoping to make a difference and then boom sound works.
Thanks again for your script.
On a side note the distribution that i'm using (XBMC Live) doesn't have wget installed by default so I had to manually install that cause the script doesn't check to see if it's there or not before attempting to use it.
Ocean4200, I am in the same situation. As soon as I have a fix, I'll post it here.
