I had A01 when I got mine, so it was just the latest available at the time. Of course, A01 is the only one allegedly approved for Ubuntu...

Really? mine came with A02, so that has probably changed.

Upgrading the BIOS As of Jan. 5 2009 it is not recommended to apply any BIOS upgrades unless they are specifically approved for Ubuntu (ie any BIOS upgrades available from the Dell website). The only BIOS recommended update for the Dell Mini 9 as of Jan 5 2009 is version A01. There is no know mechanism for doing this update from Linux at this time. A DOS-based mechanism will be posted here shortly. For more details see this thread in the Ubuntu forums.

Oh. Mine came on the 15th. 10 days after that. It was factory so I am not going to argue.

I was looking at coreboot (linuxBIOS). That might be a nice tool for some people, but it looks like it does not currently support the Mini 9's motherboard. 82801G (ICH7 Family)
