Wine,vent, and micrphone use

Hi, im try to talk in Ventrilo but i have to get really close to my microphone and when i do it comes out of my speakers as screeches and some recognizable sound, im wondering if its a setting or maybe a bad mic..any input would be appriciated

I have gotten my mic to work since this last post, for some reason my OS didnt recognize the front mic jack, so i put it in the back, I also checked my input source and had to change that setting in the sound options
