Equalize volume of mp3

What software do you recommend to equalize the volume of mp3 files?
I have an old computer (1800 MHz, 512 MB) How long (just a guess is fine) would it take to process 1000 songs? I know every song is different, but are we talking hours, days, weeks? Can I start the project, stop it and then start again where I left off?

I have a 1800 MHz CPU and more RAM than your computer, and it runs just fine. It's not terribly memory intensive, it uses the CPU and disk more than RAM.

You can process your files in batches if you want. It would probably take most of a day to do all 1000 in one go.

wheeze, thanks for the tip. All day to process 1000 files... actually that's not so bad. I'll try the program you mentioned.
