    Angry Re: snd_hda_intel options database

    Hi,
I met the sound problem. In windows the sound is ok and loud , but in ubuntu the sound was so low that i can barely hear it even i set the sound volumn to max. I have always checked alsamixer (all the channels are in max volume).
At first, i thought it is a hardware compatible problem. but one day i suspend my ubuntu for dinner, and when i got back and resumed ubuntu, i found the sound become normal status just like in windows. after i reboot, the sound turn to very low again.
So these days, everytime i started my laptop, the first thing i do is sleep & resume to make the sound ok. this is driving me crazy, can anybody tell me how to fix it?
    FYI,
    Code:
    Lenovo ZHAOYANG E46
    /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf :
    options snd-hda-intel model=auto

    Hi Guys,

I found my solution for a Toshiba Satellite L750/L755 over on the Mint forums: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=98032

A very big thanks to babysitteronacid

    I used:

    options snd-hda-intel model=ideapad
    options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1

A reload...... and SUCCESS! Sensing headphone jack!

    Hi!
Does someone have the settings for an Alienware M17x R3 under Precise Pangolin?
    On Natty, just putting
    options snd-hda-intel model=alienware
made the speakers work, but on Precise it doesn't...

    Re: snd_hda_intel options database

    Hello to all!
I've installed new Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and I got a surprise...
The soundcard is working, also the microphone... but the problem is that by default I hear the sound coming from internal speakers even when I plug in the headphones!!! And so I have the sound coming from headphones and from integrated speakers.

It is like the jack sensing is not working.

I've looked around for all suggestions but I can't get the jack sensing work.

As I said i have Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on Acer Aspire 6920G with:
    Code:
    aplay -l
**** Lista di PLAYBACK dispositivi hardware ****
scheda 0: Intel [HDA Intel], dispositivo 0: ALC889 Analog [ALC889 Analog]

scheda 0: Intel [HDA Intel], dispositivo 1: ALC889 Digital [ALC889 Digital]
      Sottoperiferiche: 1/1
      Sottoperiferica #0: subdevice #0
    and
    Code:
    cat /proc/asound/version
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.24.
    and
    Code:
    cat /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

    options snd-hda-intel model=laptop
In /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf i tried options snd-hda-intel model=acer, auto, generic, acer-aspire, laptop. But nothing... Sometimes i get the sound only from headphones and not from integrated speakers (even when the jack is not plugged in...).

I hope there is someone that could help me!

    Thank you

    Re: snd_hda_intel options database

    Hello to all!

Finally I make the soundcard working!!!
Now when I plug the jack I hear the sound only into the headphones and when I unplug them I hear the sound from internal speakers!!!

I did a kernel update. The last stable kernel version today is 3.3.4.
I downloaded the packages from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ choosing the v3.3.4-precise folder.

Here you can find the instructions of how to install kernels from .deb: http://www.unixmen.com/upgrade-your-...ntu-linuxmint/

Please, first un-install the proprietary drivers of videocard (if any).

So, audio... on my Acer 6920G is ok.

Please, feel free to ask any questions
