    Re: snd_hda_intel options database

    I changed the alsa-base.conf to 3stack to use a USB speaker system (actually a Thompson/RCA lyra wireless transmitter), which worked fine.

    Now I Moved the Lyra USB devise to an XP machine (long story, but to transmit audio and video of MLB TV to TVs around the house) and need to change back alsa-base.conf, I think, to get back to using the original, internal sound card.

    @zareason:/etc/modprobe.d$ aplay -l
    **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
    card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 3: NVIDIA HDMI [NVIDIA HDMI]
    Subdevices: 0/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

    I did not backup als-base.conf or comment out the original line which now reads:

    options snd-hda-intel probe_mask=8 model=3stack

    Anyone know what I should replace "3stack" with? I do not see my card in the database. Also, what are the steps once you;ve successfully edited alsa-base.conf to get sound?

    Alsamixer just shows the card info and IEC958, the screen is blank where one might expect to see volume bars. More output from terminal:

    I have the same issue with my Asus A52F (reported to be K52F). Sound coming out of the speakers when headphones are plugged. Please, if anybody finds the solution let us know.

    By the way, is your webcam upside down?

    Update alsa or install alsa-backports. Add option:
    Code:
     options snd-hda-intel model=3stack-dig

    Re: snd_hda_intel options database

    I just tried this, in case it was for us (Asus A52 or K52)

    options snd-hda-intel model=3stack-dig

    It doesn't work (for muting the speakers while headphones are plugged), so I guess it was a reply for somebody else. I am using ALSA 1.0.23 from ricotz-unstable ppa.

    2 -> lidex

    I've tried this your advice to install ALSA backports - no luck, still I head sound from my external speakers when plug in headphones
