Evolution mail issue

hi..
i have a gmail account, and i was configuring the same using evolution mail..
first, i enabled imap in my account and then i configured my evolution mail..first time , was able to send and receive mails.. but next consecutive times the evolution mail application started to hang.. it stopped responding..i was forced to force quit the same many times..

now i deleted my imap account and reconfigured it to pop.. now everything seems to be just fine..

could you please tell me with the reason for my mail application to stop responding when configured using imap?

I don't have a solution on how to fix Evolution, but I would give Mozilla Thunderbird a try.

Evolution is working. And i do not like very much thunderbird. the question is about imap... and the answer, i do not know. sorry.
