Keyboard backlight intrepid macbook pro 3,1

    Hi,
I have installed ubuntu 8.10 intrepid as per this guide https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Ma...ro3-1/Intrepid on my macbook pro 3,1. I have managed to get the f1 / f2 keys working with backlight by installing mbp_nvidia_bl but cannot get the keyboard backlight running.

According to the guide I followed, I had to update my apt repositories to the mactel ppa ones and install hal-applesmc, which I did. However, when I press f9 or f10 there is no increase / decrease in the keyboard backlight. Can anyone help please? I used to use pommed under gutsy, but I guess pommed isnt the way to go these days according to the guides...

I've got the same problem. On a previous install I managed to get pommed to work with the keyboard backlight -- but interestingly it would turn on at boot and be on for exactly a minute. And never turn back on, until the next reboot.
