    fussy wireless card

I have an intel wifi link 5100 wireless card. I'm using ndiswrapper for the windows driver.
Heres the situation, my wireless card works only if I switch it on before booting up. If I boot up then turn the wireless switch on it doesn't work, no wireless AP's show up in the network connection icon in the menu bar.
If anyone has a solution for this that would be great, Thanks.
