OK, how about booting your Vista CD, go to the command line, and do:
    Code:
    diskpart
And at the diskpart prompt do:
    Code:
    list volume
    exit
And find which is the drive letter for your Vista partition, most likely "C". Then do:
    Code:
    bcdedit /store C:\boot\bcd /set {default} osdevice boot
    bcdedit /store C:\boot\bcd /set {default} device boot
    bcdedit /store C:\boot\bcd /set {bootmgr} device boot
    bcdedit /store C:\boot\bcd /set {memdiag} device boot
And replace C above if the Vista drive letter is different. If the commands complete successfully, try to boot Vista again and let me know exactly what happens. We can work from there if you want.

    When I did
    Code:
    bcdedit /store C:\boot\bcd /set {default} osdevice boot
I got the result "The element data type specified is not recognized, or does not apply to the specified entry."
    The rest executed successfully.

Does your Vista CD have some sort of "Vista Repair" or "Startup Repair" type option you can use? You could try that. If that doesn't work, you could copy over a new bootmgr file and Boot folder to your Vista installation from the Vista CD. See step 2 of this tutorial for the details, and let me know how that goes.

I did the Startup Repair and all tests completed successfully with no errors, so I'll try copying a new bootmgr file and Boot folder.

I have Vista booting properly now, so thank you! The only problem is I can no longer access Ubuntu.... Seems to be a never-ending cycle. The partition is still there and intact, but Vista doesn't seem to recognize it.

Glad to hear that at least Vista is booting OK now, so to get Ubuntu booting too, how about downloading EasyBCD in Vista; you can use that to add the C:\wubildr.mbr file to your Vista boot menu, and that should boot Ubuntu again. How about giving that a shot and let me know how it goes.

I added the entry, and when I tried to boot into Ubuntu, it brought me to a grub command line.

So did you add the C:\wubildr.mbr file or the C:\ubuntu\winboot\wubildr.mbr file to Vista's boot menu? Whichever one you added, try adding the other one instead and let me know if that works or not.

I wasn't given the option to add a specific file, unless I missed a setting somewhere.
