I want to use two monitors... spanning one desktop.

I want to use two monitors... spanning one desktop.

I'm trying to install a 2nd video adapter in my machine, but Ubuntu only sees one...

    What's weird is:

    BEFORE

Video card 1 works great connected to Monitor 1.

    AFTER ADDING THE SECOND CARD

Video card 2 works great connected to Monitor 2, but...
Video card 1 does not work (still connected to Monitor 1).

The second card I am adding is a GE Force nVidia (C1CHB0, HP P/N 5188-4292).

    Any ideas?

I have a NVidia 6600GT. I installed NVidia-Settings attached one Monitor to the DVI Out and the other the VGA out. I set mine up as x-server and have two individual desktops with cube of course. There is also an extended desktop option. I did this without running sudo nvidia-settings to experiment as to exactly what I wanted. Then sudo to set my desired settings.
