    how do you Connect to broadband internet through wired network on ubuntu 6.1 or 6.2

    how do you Connect to broadband internet through wired network on ubuntu 6.1 or 6.2 I dontknow how to do it. Ubuntu even knows the network is there it says im conected to the network but i cant use my internet

    Do you know if your ISP use a proxy (username and password to login before you can get online)? What connection type do you have (LAN, cable TV, ADSL etc)? Also, do you know if your connection has a static IP address that you have to setup in the operating system before connecting or does it use DHCP (automatic detection)?
