    gnome menu problem!! please help

    Hi,

I have had a problem with the GUI on my Ubuntu box for quite some time now, and have been unable to find a solution.

Basically when I login the menus load (the menu at the top of the screen & the menu at the bottom where it shows the current running applications) then they disappear - this process happens 3/4 times until they eventually just disappear completely.

    any suggestions/help are welcomed!

    thanks
