Hate to bump this, so sorry in advance.
Same problem (mind you I'm having this problem with any file ~50MB). It's really, really stange. Prior to picking up this drive I'd been using an 8GB of the same series (and prior to that a 2GB), without any issues. I used them to move ISO's around all the time.
Also, it works great in Windows, I've tried FAT32 (formatted from Windows and GParted and NTFS). No difference. Both from the GUi and by running...
sudo cp <file> /media/<DRIVENAME>
cp: writing '/media/<DRIVENAME>/<FILE>: Input/Output Error
It hangs for a minute or two, reads, stops reading, then spits and error. One of the guys I work with told me to run dmesg, outputs:
