    malware probably from modifying sources.list

    yeah it sux really bad
so i install intrepid ibex and im very thrilled about it
i finally get the wired connection to work
everything working smoothly until then when all of a sudden my pc wants to shut down all the time and i can't really figure out why
then i get i see the update icon on the top so i click it and when i click on update i get the following message:

a malicious client may be eavesdropping on your session or you may have clicked a menu or some application just decided to get focus
did some research and this probably comes from the libgksu package
i do infact recall modifying my sources.list to install e17 and for something else maybe...

did any of you get the same message??
that sux i guess i have to install ubuntu again...

im pretty convinced that this came from modifying sources.list, do you guys agree or think it could be something else?

this happens when the "enter your password" dialog for programs that need superuser privileges (like for system updates) can't grab the mouse pointer.

    try again

Yeah, that can come up if you start Synaptic and then click on a menu or something. It just means gksu can't steal focus from whatever application you have running. It doesn't mean anything bad has happened.

99% chance your completely safe man.

There is very very little malware that works for Linux.

You shouldn't feel dumb. You should see some of the questions I ask. I'm sure that some people think I asked some dumb ones but I didn't know and understand what was going on. Never hold back.

I had no idea what that meant, until seeing the Compiz options pertaining to "focus stealing". Then I realized what was going on.
