    Re: wine or cedega?

You can easily have both - although cedega costs money of course.

Which one suits your needs best depends on which application you want to run. Cedega is developed with games in mind, while I guess wine is an all-rounder - this does not mean that cedega necessarily outperforms wine though.

I use cedega and wine. I guess I run cedega since back in the day it was actually faster - and of course the great gui makes it easy for anyone to use it. Wine is free though, and works for many things. Spotify is a good example of an application that runs fine =).

To find out if your game will run - and tricks to make it run. I would look at the following resources:
    Cedega gamesdb: http://www.cedega.com/gamesdb/
Unofficial Trangaming Wiki (Cedega): http://cedegawiki.sweetleafstudios.com/wiki/Main_Page (Kind of outdated for some games)
    Wine AppDb: http://appdb.winehq.org/

    Re: wine or cedega?

Since Cadega is based on WINE, both should run games or whatever else at the same level of performance. I've tried both and personally prefer WINE just because I like things being as simple as possible. With Cadega it was just one more layer that could have things go wrong with it.

WINE isn't all too hard to use, and if you take the time to figure it out I believe that its a superior option.

    +1 to this.

Note if you want to run office programs crossover office would be best, only because they work hard in this area and I have heard more success stories from crossover then anywhere else for office apps.

For games however Cedega is a great app if you want to pay money.

I know it runs some games like Starcraft and Red Alert 2 bug free no problems for myself, unlike Wine or Crossover Games does.

I would suggest you get a demo of cedega(hard to find in their website...) and use that, if you like the demo you will for sure like the full version.
