Re: HOWTO Fix A Buggy DSDT File

If you want to experiment, you can compile the dsdt into the 9.10 kernel. This seems to be the simplest method I've found. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1341580
If your not sure about what a setting does while reconfiguring the kernel, just don't touch it, and you should be fine.

Re: HOWTO Fix A Buggy DSDT File

i'm experimenting the whole day learned a lot about things i hadn't done before, exactly the right timewasting for holidays

i've tried to compile latest kernel from mainline ppa in lucid -> doesn't work for suspend but one error message in /var/log/messages disappeared!

now i'm on 9.04 jaunty and have tried to follow up your how to, but seems it doesn't recognize the dsdt, but i will try it further the next hours.

for my surprising the hibernate works out of the box in jaunty, but maybe it's because i've set from ahci to ide mode in bios, not sure if i tested hibernate with this setting in karmic or lucid.

there was a few trouble about the version of iasl i'd used. takes me a lot time. but from now i think there are only a few steps to success

Punctuation is essential. Make sure the dsdt is named DSDT.aml, and it is in the right folder.

Re: HOWTO Fix A Buggy DSDT File

thanks, i've already recognized, that was the issue. but suspend doesn't work, tried also acpi_osi="linux" and various other acpi related bootflags.

i've figured out that suspend doesn't work from live cd or live usb either, further i can't do partitioning before cli or live cd install without triggered ahci in the bios, otherwise the installer crashes.
but when i boot after install with ahci i got something like this:
    Code:
    [ 15.720046] ata1: SATA link up 3.0 Gbps (SStatus 123 SControl 300)
    [ 16.540846] ata1.00: ACPI _SDD failed (AE 0x5)
[ 16.553907] ata1.00: ACPI: failed the second time, disabled

which disappears in ide mode, but without any advantage.

    any suggestions?

thanks for the help with this!

Re: HOWTO Fix A Buggy DSDT File

I only get warning when I compile mine which is ok right? only thing that worries me is laptop running hot?
When I scroll down to THERMAL ZONE there are FMIN and FMAX values which are presume are fan minimum and maximum speeds.
Changing the FMIN to higher value didnt make any difference,
wonder what I am doing wrong?
perhaps temp sensor is not read correctly?

Ok, fixed then https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ux/+bug/405120, it wasn't the DSDT, but thanks for fixing it.

Hi 67GTA, let me join your dsdt party

Please help me fix mine, inspiron1464:
    - dsdt recompile w/out error & warning
    - can not resume from suspend
    - overheat, /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp showing constant value, keep at 26800
    - /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone1/temp showing constant value, keep at 0

    Thank you
