Have been running a clean install of 8.04 for the past month or so fine and upon allowing the Update Manager to upgrade to 8.10 all my programs were entact and my user profile show ups, but when logging into my only user account on this rig I get this error:
User's $HOME/.dmrc file is being ignored. This prevents the default session and language from being saved. File should be owned by user and have 644 permissions. User's $HOME directory must be owned by user and not writable by other users.
any help would be appreciated.
(also, not sure if this is causing my networking problems, but apparently there are a lot of issues with upgrading and having a functional networking atmosphere afterwords. )
