Is there no mp3gain package for Ubuntu? Where can I get some sort of 'official' package for it?

MP3Gain on Linux is CLI only. If you want a GUI then you can use EasyMP3Gain: http://sourceforge.net/projects/easymp3gain/ (there is a .deb package).

I downloaded the easymp3gain-0.5.0/easymp3gain-gtk2_0.5.0-2_i386.deb and tried to install it. It says it is corrupted or I don't have permissions to run the file. I have downloaded it several times. I was wondering if some one else could try.

The gtk package appears to be corrupted, there is a qt4 one that isn't.

For the qt4 you'd need to first install another package that's also hosted there - libqt4intf5, the advisability of doing so I can't say and am not on an install I wish to experiment with

SoundKonverter has a replay gain tool on it's tools menu, that provides a GUI for the command line *gain utilities.

the GTK-package really was broken. Round about 500 people have downloaded it and nobody of them wrote me (the developer) a mail about it .
