16GB SanDisk Cruzier Micro - Destroyed

Tripped on my own sleeping leg. Sitting too long does that to my leg.

All of my documents were on this thing, and I accidentally broke it. -_-

No backups were made, ever. The USB head itself is now off of those three connectors (there should be four, but that snapped when I bent it.)

If it is only a matter of joining up broken connections, it should be repairable, possibly quite easily.

    Good luck.

Or you can ghetto rig it to pull everything off.

You'll have to be good with soldering and willing to sacrifice some time, the drive, and a USB cable.

That links has the pin outs and wire colors, it'll take some matching up. I've done something similar and it's not to hard.

Definitely the biggest problem with these things. I'm surprised the good ones (eg: Cruzer Micro, at least the titanium ones) don't have alternative female mini USB ports on them for events like this. Oh well, some day they will see the light.

It does look fixable. You could run the pins into a USB A -> A cable (female to male), then plug that cable into your computer. It would spare you the risk of jamming wires straight into the computer's USB ports.

Then buy a new one. I believe Walmart sells them for just this side of $68 USD. (And yes, I am well aware of many peoples' aversion to Walmart.)
Have you ever found something in the second-to-last place you looked?
If it seems like I am ignoring you, perhaps I am.

Ah, I had this before at college and managed to fix it . Insert the USB connector thingy into the USB port by its self, then rip open the case of the memory stick (so you just have the circuit board) and align it up nicely with the connector, making sure the contacts are together. Wiggle it around until your OS finds it, then stand very still and get someone else to copy the files across.

Here's a new image, of the USB Head after it broke off.

It's upsidown so you can see where the connectors go. note one is still stuck to this USB Head on that little piece of computer board that's left.

Also check places like Futureshop. They have 16GB flash drives starting at $25.
