k9copy dvdauthor can't find mpeg after transcode

I am trying to burn a mpg video to a dvd using k9copy. The transcoding goes fine and created JQgz0Bbu.mpeg in /tmp/kde-tsharitt/k9copy. However, once the mpeg is created, I get an error saying that the mpeg file cannot be found and the process stops. I checked in /tmp/kde-tsharitt/k9copy and the folder is empty. Has anyone else had this problem and does anyone know a solution to the problem. Any help is appreciated.

I might should mention that I had to compile k9copy (version 1.2.3) from source because the one in the repositories crashed anytime I tried to open a file. However, all the back end tools (dvdauthor, ffmpeg, etc) are from the repos.

Edit: just tried it again, the file it can't find is a different name that the one it originally created, but the original is still gone.
