I need to use the networking function in administrative systems and I am asked for a root password. I have no idea what that password might be so how do I find the password to access that function? I am using version 7.04.

your root password should be the same password you log in with, the one you chose during setup.

If you are the owner of the account, then your password is the root password. If someone else set the system up, they would have the root password. However, be extremely careful while in that mode, as irreperable (sp) harm can be done.

If he made the account you're using, and didn't make another one for himself when he installed for you, your password should be fine. Otherwise, you'd have to get on the horn to him and find out what password he used.
