    [SOLVED] oops! aborted upgrade

I aborted an upgrade to Jaunty, by logging off, cause my CD drive was causing errors (tons of em). When I got to the logon screen my keyboard and mouse didn't work, so I powered off. When I booted again, same thing. I tried to re-instsall but my CD won't boot (see: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1028005) and it's set as the first boot device. It just hangs for a sec, then boots off the hard drive. It's sittin at the logon screen now, I can access my shares and my web is online (I think). how can I get my keyboard and mouse working again so I can upgrade off the *.iso? I already went in recovery mode and tried to fix the x-server.
