i'm used to compile mplayer-svn with this how-to...

vdpau is one of the reasons I am getting out of the svn MPlayer business . Unfortunately I know next to nothing about it, for the most part because I do not have the hardware to test it. There are a couple of threads that might help, the first that comes to mind is this one:

Bear in mind that the MPlayer you have compiled from this guide will playback h264 files, all vdpau is about is offloading much of the processing onto an appropriate nvidia graphics card.

My apologies but my knowledge of vdpau is almost nonexistent . But this certainly looks promising:

There are several recent advances with MPlayer that I do not cover in this guide including FFmpeg-MT, Core-AVC and vdpau. I believe that all of these have decent guides elsewhere on these forums so you have a choice to make .

I have added in a small section that details how the new libopencore-amr libraries can be added to allow playback of files with amr sound. Please let me know if there are any problems...
