Ubuntu refused to let me open the applications menu

i know it must be something simple but when i click on the applications menu nothing happens. have tried going into system->preferences->main menu and that doesn't pop up either!

    wierdness eh.

I'm running ubuntu (lean) the experimental kernel from www.array.org for my eee pc 901.. I could uninstall the whole thing but i'm still recovering from the brawl i had trying to get any form of linux on here.

Have you tried deleting and readding the applet to the toolbar? What about the other main menu applet. does it also not function?

yep tried that, still no joy. It's only the applications menu weirdly enough, the places and system bars are still fine and active. thought it might me a compiz problem but i tried turning off all effects and that turns up no joy either.

Try going to home folder -> .config -> menus -> and deleting applications.menu
.config is a hidden folder (view - show hidden files
