Question Filesystem backup (snapshot) from inside Ubuntu

    I found this thread
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=35087
and also some comments about sbackup.

I take sbackup takes whatever you tell it to and makes a .tar file out of it.

So, would it be possible to backup the whole filesystem using sbackup and then to restore it without having to boot from an external drive - another partition?

    Thanks in advance...

In case someone finds this thread while searching for a solution, I use now back-in-time, and it's quite ok.
