With the exception of 8.10, which is really buggy and won't even install on my system (and a whole lotta other systems), I say it continues to improve. I've been using it for a couple of years now. I tried Kubuntu 8.10 briefly, but switched back. It's buggy too, but at least it ran. I did like the new KDE4 and a few other things. Hated the k-forum support; a few bad apples spoiled it for me.

There's a poll for install problems w/8.10 with some sobering numbers:

no, it's just not getting better as fast as it used to

    (if that makes any sense)

i spent most of hardy using arch. ibex has been good so far. it's the first time since feisty, i think, that i didn't have to edit my xorg.conf to include my widescreen resolution.

No I don't think it is getting worse. Its reached the point where it has become very difficult to implement radical new features as most of them that users have asked for has been implemented already.

I think posts on this forum are getting worse with every release.

It is not getting worse. But users' expectations are going higher than the development.

It's getting shinier, so it must be getting better. I'm not sure since I haven't really used Ubuntu since Gutsy Gibbon.

My video card was working perfectly in Feisty and Gutsy, but never worked in Hardy and Intrepid. Do you call this expectations going higher than development or development that can't stand on its feet?

I took it for granted that my card will always work fine once it worked with Gutsy, but it turned out that Shuttleworth is playing some card games with his employees.

I reckon it's going from strength to strength. I think Intrepid is just about the best Ubuntu I've used so far. I absolutely love it.Sorry if that sounds a bit fanboyish, but that's about the measure of how I feel about it. I've installed it on both my desktop and our Dell laptop, and also installed EEEBuntu (which is based on Intrepid) on the Eee PC we got for the youngest for Christmas. It really is the best Eee distro there is imho. I honestly could not possibly be happier with my choice of OS on all counts.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all involved in bringing us this tremendous distro!
