    update problems

    Hi

    I have frequently received the error message below when trying to install automatic updates. Can anyone help please? Thanks

    E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
    E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

    Re: update problems

    Can we continue?
    I've gone from Gutsy to Hardy but when I check for updates I (after several minutes of downloading) get the following:
    "could no load {a long URL of the us server} malformed file"
    I have tried several servers including the one recommended for my location.
