    Playing from Line in

I recently aquired a record player and the only speakers I have are hooked to my computer, I could conceivably unplug them from my computer and plug them into my record player, but would much rather be able to use both at the same time. Luckily, my sound card has a line in port. Unluckily, I have no idea how to go about getting my music to play from said line in port. How can this be done?
Help me Ubuntu forums, you are my only hope.

If you have a standard turntable you will need a preamp to use it with a line in and it will not work with your speakers.
