happend when I installed xserver-xorg-video-psb on jaunty.
The module install seems to be missing a step. It messed me up too. Try this:
That should regenerate the module magic for your kernel. You may need to reboot.Code:sudo /sbin/lrm-manager sudo modprobe wl
thank you guys very much but in the middle time I reinstall everything from the begin, now it's working
Hello guys, at first thanks for this thread, its very helpful.
I have new Acer One 751h laptop with this measly GMA 500 chipset, Ubuntu Jaunty installed. I tried to follow brteag´s instructions (message #94) so I installed xserver-xorg-video-psb package from PPA repository and then coppied firmware, psb_dri.so and Xpsb.so to the system.
Now I´ve got proper resolution, 2D video acceleration works, no 3D of course. My problem is that my laptop totally freeze very often and I suspect video driver makes this issue. If this happened, I can drive the cursor via mouse, but that´s all. X server does not response and reset of whole computer is nessesary.
Anybody saw this behavior? It´s really annoying. Is there any other way to get a full resolution and video acceleration working? Thanks fo help and sorry about language...
Something happens to PPA Jaunty repositories...
Maybe we can finally use the latest Jaunty with 2D/3D video... I can't believe yet.. I'll check as soon as possible!
Have you tested ?
I tried it. Resolution and video acceleration seems OK, glxinfo reports Direct rendering:Yes, glxgears gives me about 230 FPS (instead of 80 FPS before driver update). But compiz not work for me, I´m not able to allow desktop effects.
Now I hope it solves my problem with stability. For you compiz is working?
ufff, it freeze again... so new driver doesn´t help me...
I followed the instructions here and i was able to install Ubuntu 9.04 on mi mini, thank you all very much.
However, yesterday i turned my laptop on and the system asked for updates. I installed them and now i don't have wifi!!
I am new with ubuntu so any help would be great.
Actually i prefer gentoo instead of ubuntu but the chipset Poulsbo is a PITA, anyway i bought dell mini 12" with ubuntu preloaded, and what.cd has the answer for a out-of-box installation of ubuntu.
There isn't a problem with the repositories of Dell, something like
If anyone has more info for gentoo on the dell mini 12"; X, and the webcam isn't properly working.
Thanks in advance.
