    So can anyone tell me which books I have to refer to learn programming skills in linux...espicially for system programming

    this seems to be a very basic tutorial...and i know C++....

    but linux programming requires some advanced knowledge

    I wish I was better at programming too so I could put some of my ideas into code. cplusplus.com looses me when it gets to friendship, inheritance and polymorphism...

    I wanted to help out to. I love C. Its my first programming language. I wanted to contribute to any free software projects but I'm afraid my programming skill isn't good enough. I had C programming subjects back in college. That covered c programming and basic data structures. I wanted to learn more. But I don't have my own pc back then. Now that I have on. I'm back to coding again.

    Can anyone suggest a good place to start? I want to contribute small things at first so that I can learn more.

    you can refer O'REILLY books device drivers...kernel programming...but then you need to be efficient with the library functions and other utilities of C...
