Unhappy Groupwise Client 7.0.3 Installs then no-go

    I have two machines.

I first installed Groupwise 7.0.3 on a machine based on this thread:

    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=147278

Great.. (Well one bug.. If I click on a greyed-out tab when reading a message, Groupwise locks up. [OK, so don't do that...]

The other machine had Groupwise 6 installed (and working). So I first uninstalled it, and then followed the previous instructions. Everything seems to have worked, but when I try to run Grooupwise, Nothing (at all) happens.

I have tried using the launcher that gets created, running groupwise.sh and groupwise-bin.

I opened system monitor and tried running, and groupwise does not appear to come up on the list.

    Suggestions???

If I remember, it's something to do w/ the Java, or some file it's missing, I don't know why it has to be so difficult w/ Ubuntu, my buddy who uses SUSE pretty religiously says it works like a charm in SUSE, but of course, they're both Novell products, go figure...

Try replacing the JRE Groupwise uses, that's a start...

I should have closed this thread. I still don't know what happened.

Since then, I uninstalled and started over using the same instructions. The last time I did so I did not worry about downloading the latest Java, I just linked to the version of java that I had already installed via Synaptic. Since then I have been OK, although our Groupwise server is very slow and I may bail on it.

    May I suggest Citadel?
    http://www.citadel.org

It takes only about 20 minutes to install and it just works.

    More info here:

    Cheers,
