youtube-dl
youtube-dl is a small command-line program to download videos from YouTube.com.You can also find it in synaptic.Code:sudo apt-get install youtube-dl
Within Firefox I use a plugin called DownLoadThemAll
check the firefox addons there are quite a few

You can also use a website such as http://downloadyoutubevideos.com/ - then you don't have to install any software on your computer.

As you watch the video, watch the little bar underneath it fill up. When it is full, the video will be in your /tmp directory. Copy it from there to wherever you like.

you can just go to keepvid.com. copy the url of the video you want to download and paste it into there search bar. then you can download it in the format you want.
