Yeah... I'm torn. I've noticed I can get things like AWN running better on Ubuntu than I could on Arch, but man oh man I'm not liking the system at large. Admittedly I could use a reformat in general, I've got way too many conflicting config files floating around now.

you can still try slax as it is primarily a live cd. you can run it in ram so that you can still use your cdrom and it's very fast.

Care to share the secret of getting screen to split side by side, instead of on top? I've been searching around, but can't find the answer.

How long did Ubuntu last before you came back to Arch?

    You know what they say:

Once you go Arch you never go back.

    ....or something like that

I lasted six hours, if you aren't counting just getting it set up last night. I needed Openbox and putting Openbox on an Ubuntu installation just felt retarded. Not to mention after using pacman, and specifically Yaourt, I can never go back to apt-get.

Pacman is god's gift to package management.

xterm is full blown, or are you suggesting that xterm is wine enough for someone with my beer tastes?

I like pacman, but makepkg is what makes it all worthwhile for me. Its so easy to make packages if you have a little knowlege of compiling and shell scripting, versus on Debian you have to learn a whole bunch of extra stuff.
