When I occur sound on this laptop the speakers or headphones I'm using at the time crackle. This is really annoying. The speakers/headphones worked last time I used this computer. What can I do?

Double click on your mixer applet and make sure everything is sufficiently turned up. Having one channel's volume too low can cause that.
I had this problem too, but that was when i was testing intrepid, so i guessed it was that. Did you update recently, or anything special happen?
HP pavilion dv 6910us, 2.0 GHZ AMD turion 64 X2, 3 GB of RAM, Nvidia GeForce 7150M.
cool tongue dude!
Everything is turned up..still persists to crackle in the event of sound.
Maybe try going into the mixer's preferences and show all channels and try turning off stuff like mux and input. Try messing around with the channels
That's all I can think of right now.
Ok, I'll mess around with the channels but I don't think it will make any difference. I will report back if its fixed. Any other help would be appreciated.
Try turning the slider for 'PCM' down a bit. My computer has the same thing, and making sure PCM isn't at the max volume helps.
I agree, turning PCM all the way up is never a good idea.
It tends to be too grating
