WiFi link established, but can't get connection
I'm installing Ubuntu on a friend's laptop.
She has a Toshiba Satellite L350-107
(Wifi Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG (802.11a/b/g))
8.04 was a pain on this one (had to look for wifi drivers and several workarounds to start) but 8.10 "just worked", wifi included.
However, now that I start the laptop again, it DOES connect to my router, but I can't do anything. (I can't surf, can't ping the router, ...)
I bet I can fix this by throwing out networkmanager (as it's nothing but trouble, even on my desktop) but I need to "keep it simple" for my friend. (And telling her to edit a few configuration files, should she want to connect to another network, isn't an option)
Re: WiFi link established, but can't get connection
The mystery continues ...
Sometimes a signal does come through, mostly it doesn't. My friend is getting very impatient.
