That's right. That's explains why Ubuntu Stable is much more unstable than Debian Unstable
But will they be newer next year, Feb 2014?
Im not fan of Wheezy - Im fan of rolling release distros
Eg Debian Testing, Aptosid, Siduction, PureOS, Dreamlinux, CrunchBang Waldorf.
Back to package versions:
Chromium-browser:
Debian Wheezy/Sid - 24.0.1312.68-1
Ubuntu Precise/Quantal - 24.0.1312.56-0ubuntu0
Oh I think you mean Firefox - yes very outdated in Wheezy but sorry Chrome(ium) is the leader since 2012. Firefox has never been default browser in Debian anyway.
Kernel? Wheezy and Sid users usually use Liquorix kernel
Currently 3.7.0-8.dmz.1
Quantal - 3.5.0-17.28
The point is I will be running Debian Testing for next 5 years (until hardware upgrade) getting new packages without reinstalling system.
Lets meet here in February 2018 and compare package versions:
Debian Testing vs Ubuntu Quantal.
Say again, how long is Quantal supported?
^ Someone just figured out what "long term support" means!
I'll be probably back with Ubuntu when I get some ARM gear because it gets much better support from Ubuntu than from Debian.
But it may change.
rushikesh988 is right your ram is too low upgrade yor ram or use xubuntu.
It seems the thread is turning into an 'oranges vs. apples' debate for which a Help & Support section is no good place.
The thread seems to have met its purpose on post #24 and now is getting off the rails with irrelevant comments. Hence is Closed!
Thanks everyone for sharing your opinions!
