Looking to form a Texas LoCo team

Hey there fellow Texans (or "Howdy" if y'all want to be formal),
I was browsing throug the LoCo Team List wiki and found three proposed Texas teams in Houston, Austin, and Dallas, respectively. Unfortunately nobody has a forum or a mailing list. Or anything more than a two-sentence wiki for that matter. They appear to be effectively kaput.

I know certain areas of the Lone Start State aren't the most computer-friendly places you'll ever see but I think a LoCo team might help, at least in some small way. If nothing else, a Texas LoCo team will give Texas some prescence (did I spell that right?) in the Ubuntu community.

My technical skills are limited, so I'm not much use in that respect. But I am rather good with organizing and finding things. I'd be willing to serve in that capacity.

Thoughts? Comments? Volunteers to be our fearless leader(s)?

I live in the Houston area... but I'm only 14, lol. That probably kicks me out of the leader position...

While slightly amusing, that was neither neccesary nor helpful. Have anything relevant to the thread subject you'd like to say?

At least you're willing to join the team. And age isn't neccesarily a disqualifier. I'm barely 20 myself.

Re: Looking to form a Texas LoCo team

I wondered why there wasn't a Texas Loco team, especially in Austin where Dell is located just slightly north of here, AMD is here, and Austin for the most part is pretty tech savvy.

There are two other people in my workplace that have started using Ubuntu on their home computers which completely floored me when I found out

I'd join one, but I don't really have the knowhow to start one up, or keep it organized, plan events, etc...

It's huge. I can drive from Austin, which is more or less central Texas, to the Oklahoma border which is north, and it takes roughly 8 hours. Takes about 6-7 hours to drive south to Corpus Christi and the Gulf of Mexico.

Texas is a country unto itself, seriously....

No kidding. And since Texans love to brag, Texas is bigger than any other European country except Russia.

But I'd love to have a Texas Loco team.
BTW, I'm from the DFW area.
