    Does it work with nvidia drivers?Last I read, this kernel had problems with Nvidia closed source drivers

    Did you try the drivers 334.21? They're not in ubuntu repository (as neither in the xorg-edgers ppa afaik), so it's possible you'd have to install them manually, but being the very latest they might work with 3.14

    Nope I don't stray outside of packaged repos or ppas
    I just pulled the card out went to [AMD] RS780 on board Integrated.
    But that driver wont build either, using open-source now.
    Did I miss an X11 upgrade somewhere?

    I use 331.49 from xorg edgers ppa and it works.
    bmaxa@maxa:~$ sudo dkms install -m nvidia-331 -v 331.49 -k 3.14.0-core2-custom[sudo] password for bmaxa:
    Module nvidia-331/331.49 already installed on kernel 3.14.0-core2-custom/x86_64

    Now You know how I have felt years ago with this Radeon on my firest steps in Ubuntu...
    I've struggled and Forum is full of my posts about ATI drivers...
