Hi everyone,
I am, most unfortunately, back in Windows 7. I love love love Ubuntu but am an absolute beginner and am having problems. Here are just a few:
1. Unity will not load anything other than background screen. Only shell I can use is gnome-fallback.
2. Software center and other things like DebiG almost immediately stop responding and close down.
3. Apt-get does not work well. Unless I sudo apt-get update every login, it will get stuck at 50% building the dependency tree for everything.
4. Power options do not change. In Windows I set it to suspend after 5 minutes, in Ubuntu I changed it for 30 minutes, but always suspends after 5 minutes nonetheless.
I'm sure this is all very vague, and I'm sorry for that. I was wondering if installing the 32-bit rather than the 64-bit may alleviate some of these ailments? Or if anyone could just point me in the right direction I would be so grateful.
