Program for ckecking the unbroken files

Hi guys i hope that you are fine.

Just i want to know if is there any program in ubuntu that ckecks a file if is broken or not ?

for example :I have 100 files with .pdf .mp3 .mp4 .txt extension

How will i know the files that is broken and unbroken ?

I can't open (.pdf .txt etc) or run (.mp3 .mp4 .flv) it .

Ah, broken in the sense of damaged, invalid. So we ideally need a .pdf viewer/.mp3 player/etc. that returns non-zero to the shell whenever it detects an error in the file (and preferably has an option to prevent any graphical/sound output). It's easy to program if you already have this viewer/player, but does anyone know whether somebody really build this into one of the viewers/players?

Besides, .txt files are unlikely to get damaged in such a way that you cannot open them, simply because they don't have a specific syntax. Unless your text editor doesn't get their encoding right. Have you checked the encoding of those .txt files?

And the obvious thing, have you checked you have read permissions for those files? Or have they been stored on a broken memory stick?
