Welcome Mike! We'd love to have your contributions. You can check out the forum sticky for the location of our mailing lists and IRC. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FloridaTeam/GetInvolved is also usually updated with ongoing events.

Re: Introduce yourself

Hi!

Sorry, I haven't gone through everyone's intros as there are 11 pages of them! That's great news though.

My name is Jamal Fanaian. I am a web developer, living in Casselberry (Greater Orlando area). I have been using Linux for a few years now, started playing a while ago and about 2 years ago hopped on Ubuntu as my primary OS. I have to admit, it is great. It is also about time I meet some people that are as excited about Linux and Ubuntu as I am so I decided to try to join this group and meet some people.

Hope to see you all soon! I will be keeping up with the event page

Thanks!
Jamal

Re: Introduce yourself

Hi!

My name is Chris and I'm from the Dallas, Texas area. I'm currently working on my Undergrad in Software Engineering. I've worked in Web Development, Mobile Applications, Automation and Telecom. My first linux distro was Fedora 4, and I began using ubuntu in 2007.

When I'm not working/studying, I enjoy rock climbing.

Welcome to the Florida Local Community Teams Forums! I am slightly confused, I thought eskimo's were from Alaska... and do you think your not a nerd simply because you play sports??? I'll bet you spend more than an hour or two on your computer a day! Well regardless Thanks for letting us know a little about you!

Hey there Chris, It was nice of you to swing in and give a litte info about yourself. I used to dig Rock Climbing (Indoors at a local gym) but haven't been able to climb for some time. We're glad that you took the time to visit our forums. Feel free to swing into #ubuntu-us-fl on freenode if you feel like chatting with the rest of the team!

Thanks,

Chris C.

Awesome. We have a python or packaging jam coming up in early september if you're interested in learning those things. We also have the Florida Linux Show coming up in October. Stay tuned to our mailing list for upcoming events. A bunch of us are always chatting in IRC. Good to see ya. Welcome!
