    Have been having same problem with dell dimension c521 with amd 64 live. Having to revert to 3.5 to boot however, downloading 3.7.0-5 kernel and such now and will reply in a few if it works. I also do belive that I have splash off because I could not get It to boot with out it so ill try above commands if first try fails.

    Update: no luck with 3.7.0-5 (on 12.10) but am trying

    sudo update-pciids && update-usbids
    then
    sudo update-grub

    Unless you can provide enough information in the bug report, you are more than likely to run into the Brad Figg bot, that will just keep asking you to install the next latest kernel. This problem isn't writing anything to the logs, so there really isn't much to report, except it doesn't work.

    Thank you ill just wait till the next kernel update but, should I remove the invalid ones?

    You might just as well, unless you've got a custom grub menu, as the latest kernel is the one selected automagically, and results in a failed boot, if you aren't paying attention.

    I keep trying every kernel release, and will do so until it finally works.

    Install 12.10
    Is working ? good; note kernel version: 3.5
    Upgrade to Raring.
    Kernel 3.7-rc8 not working ?
    Test 3.5 again.

    i am running a AMD Phenom II 965 BE @3.7GHz CPU and it is stable on kernel 3.7 (from xorg edgers)
