Question I cannot get going with Gentoo 12.1 LiveDVD

Ok, I spent parts of three days downloading the new Gentoo 12.1 LiveDVD. It boots up just fine, but when it gets to the login screen, it is frozen. I tried it twice with the same result.

I asked in the #gentoo channel on Freenode. The only answer I got told me to boot to the command line. "Ok," I said, "how do I do that?" Neither he nor anyone else responded.

Does anyone here know what I should do?

Try >> Alt key with F2 or F3 . Those combinations will open command line/Konsole.

Exclamation Re: I cannot get going with Gentoo 12.1 LiveDVD

This is now moot. I downloaded and installed the Sabayon 8 SpinBase cd image, then installed Gnome 3 afterwards.

I had almost too many problems to talk about, the main one being that the text based installer gave me very limited partition choices and ended up taking all of my free space and making it into an LVM storage group. All of my free space means over 600 GB! So, even though the installation was successful, I have deleted it, again.

On to Plan C, whatever that may be.

I downloaded Sabayon today, and followed a video instructions to the
dot. But, I was unable to install myself as the admin. I can use Sabayon,
and so far I really like it, but I cannot 'register' the iso.
Guess I'll keep using it and forgo updates.
I'm really looking to use Linux to surf.
