How about the RestrictedFormats help.
Lubuntu 12.04 is out of support, which could explain the error message. Better to begin with a fresh install of 14.04.

There will never be a time when all bugs are adressed, but I have not had any trouble myself. Best you can do is trying 14.04 in a live boot and see for yourself.

I only have a netbook so no cd drive.I downloaded my 12.04 to an SD card but can't find the link to where I got it from.Can anybody point me to that or a usb version?
