Getting mplayer to disable screen blanking while playing

    Hi,

With Totem and VLC screen blanking is disabled when "disable screensaver" is set in preferences. Not so for mplayer. Screen blanking still happens during playback even when disable screensaver is set. Is there a way I can get the same behavior in mplayer as I get with Totem and VLC where screen blanking is disabled while movies are playing?

    Did you look at
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1970597

if all fails, this program is great for other stuff as well:

Thanks, yes I have looked at those posts, and I am able to disable the screensaver without problems. But with mplayer screen blanking isn't disabled like it is with VLC and Totem when the screensaver is disabled. I do not use a screensaver, but I do have screen blanking set (it's a laptop) so that is what I need to disable while mplayer is playing. I prefer mplayer, but I guess I could move to Totem or VLC if I can't get it to work. I'll look at caffeine also.

Current debate at MPlayer-users seems to suggest that this is not possible with MPlayer at this time:

It would be a nice feature though...
